SOLAR POWER SUNDAY

February 13, 1 – 3 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church
Jesse Dahl, Presenter

Learn about how solar power works, and its practical possibilities for your churches, homes, or other facilities.  

Jesse Dahl is a Solar pv instructor at Hibbing Community College, as well as a licensed electrician and a certified NABCEP solar installer.  He will give a power point presentation, as well as answer questions.   Jesse will also be bringing solar panels and inverters, and instruments that do site analysis for solar potential.

Messiah Lutheran Church is located at 8590 Enterprise Drive South in Mountain Iron, adjacent the Mountain Iron Community Center.

VSTF Meeting 1.19.11

Please note the meeting date change from January 12th to the 19th. The Virginia Sustainability Task Force will be meeting on the 3rd Wednesday in January, and will go back to the 2nd Wednesday of the month in February. Our guest speaker will be Bill Mittelfehldt of CERTs (Clean Energy Resource Teams). He will be speaking on the MN Green Step Cities Program, and will assist us in the next step of the process. VSTF Meeting 12.8.10

The Virginia Sustainability Task Force will be meeting Wednesday, December 8th at 5 p.m. in the conference room #118 of the Northland Building. Sudhir Singh of Lighting House USA will be speaking on commercial and residential Light Emitting Diodes (LED) lighting. Lighting House USA is a Minnesota manufacturer of  LEDs. Some benefits of LED lighting are they last 3 times longer than Compact Flourescent Lightbulbs (CFLs) without the toxic hazardous waste. Come and learn more about LEDs and installations on the Iron Range.

CERTs 4th Biennial Conference February 2-3, 2011

Clean Energy Resource Teams 2011 Clean Energy Convergence will unite you with other Minnesotans who are blazing the paths to a clean energy future by working on energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in their communities. Get ready to learn, connect, and act with CERTs and 600 engaged community members on February 2-3, 2011 in Saint Cloud, MN!

CERTs 2011 is a venue for both broad and in-depth learning opportunities, connecting and networking with engaged community members, and taking action on energy efficiency and clean energy projects. The event will begin with In-Depth Workshops and an Evening Reception on February 2nd, and continue with a Daylong Conference on the 3rd.

Please join us to learn more about the Duluth SEEDS of SUCCESS Program. A model for locally sustainable urban agriculture employing youth from low-income households.  Brainstorm with us about possibilities of creating a similar program or other local sustainable food initiatives in the quad-cities. Stay for the monthly Virginia Sustainability Task Force meeting after the presentation.

VSTF to meet 10/13/10

The Virginia Sustainability Task Force will meet Wednesday Oct. 13th at 5 p.m. in the Northland Building Conference Room #118. Of discussion will be ways to achieve significant energy savings through the City Conservation Improvement Program, with guest speaker Jessica Burdette from Energy Management Solutions. The meeting will conclude at 6:30 p.m. followed by a global warming presentation by George Erickson at Mesabi Range Community & Technical College, on the Virginia Campus, in Room F-100 (Theatre) at 7:00 P.M. Everyone is welcome to “BROWN BAG” the VSTF Meeting, due to the short time between the meeting and presentation at the college. All are welcome to attend!
